Who we are
Fates (fates.uk) is operated by DHAI (dhai.no), which is the data controller for your personal data.

What we collect
Account: your email address. If you sign in with Google, your Google display name and profile picture.
Your birthday and sun sign, used for your daily horoscope and card of the day.
Birth data (date, time, and place) if you choose to create a natal chart.
The questions you ask and the readings we generate for you.
Short “memories” the system distills from your readings, to give gentle continuity over time.
Your Fates Points balance and history, and payment metadata from Stripe. We never see or store your full card number.
Technical data such as your last-seen time. Your IP address is used transiently for security and rate-limiting, and is not stored.
How we use your data
To deliver readings, generate horoscopes and charts, run the Fates Points economy, keep your account secure, and prevent abuse.
We do not sell your data, and we do not use it for advertising.
Who we share it with
To provide the service we send some data to trusted processors, each only for its specific function:
DeepSeek generates reading and horoscope text — the text of your question is sent to produce a reading.
OpenAI generates card and artifact artwork.
Open-Meteo turns the birth place you enter into map coordinates.
Stripe processes payments.
Google handles sign-in, if you choose it.
Storage and cookies
We store a session token, your chosen theme, and your language in your browser's local storage so the app works. These are strictly functional.
We set no tracking cookies, and we run no advertising or analytics trackers.
How long we keep it
We keep your data while your account is active. When you delete your account, your data is permanently erased.
Stripe retains payment records as required by its own legal obligations.
Your rights
Access and export: use “Download my data” in your account, or email us, to get a copy of your data.
Rectification: edit your display name and birthday in your account.
Erasure: “Delete account” permanently removes your data.
