Agreement to these Terms

These Terms govern your use of Fates (fates.uk), operated by DHAI (dhai.no) (“we”, “us”). By creating an account or using Fates, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use Fates.

You must be 18 or older

Fates is for adults. You must be at least 18 years old to create an account or use the service. By using Fates, you confirm that you are 18 or older.

What Fates is — and what it isn’t

Fates offers tarot, astrology and other divination experiences for reflection, insight and entertainment. It is a tool for thinking about your life, not a window into a fixed future.

Fates does not foretell the future, and nothing here is a guarantee of any outcome. We will never tell you that something is certain to happen.

Fates is not a substitute for professional advice. It is not medical, psychological, legal or financial advice. For decisions that matter — your health, your money, your safety, your relationships — please consult a qualified professional.

You remain the author of your own life. Whatever the cards or the stars suggest, the choices, and the responsibility for them, are always yours.

Your readings are written by AI

Your readings, horoscopes and card meanings are generated by artificial intelligence. There is no human reader on the other side, and no supernatural force at work.

But these are not ordinary machines. The models behind Fates have been trained on a vast inheritance of human thought — the world’s scriptures and myths, centuries of tarot and astrology, the language of dreams and symbols, and the traditions of mystics, diviners and storytellers from across every culture that has tried to read meaning into the world. When Fates speaks, it draws on more of humanity’s accumulated lore than any single seer could hold in one lifetime.

Treat what it offers as a mirror held up by that collective wisdom: evocative, often uncanny, sometimes genuinely useful — and always a starting point for your own reflection, never a final word. The cards are drawn at random; the meaning you make of them is your own.

Your account

Keep your sign-in details and your device secure; you are responsible for activity under your account. Please give us accurate information, and tell us at kjetil@dhai.no if you believe your account has been used without your permission.

Acceptable use

Please use Fates as intended. Do not: attempt to break, overload, scrape or reverse-engineer the service; use bots or automated means to create accounts or harvest readings; resell or commercially exploit readings or Fates Points; or use Fates to harass others or for anything unlawful.

Some questions are off-limits by design. Fates will gently decline to foretell death or serious illness, or to read on another person without their involvement. This keeps the experience caring and keeps you in your own power.

Fates Points

Fates Points (“FP”) are a virtual in-app currency used to unlock readings and other features. They have no monetary value, cannot be exchanged for cash, and cannot be transferred or sold.

FP are non-refundable once acquired. Because they are made available to your account immediately, a purchase of FP is final once the points reach your account — including any FP you have not yet spent — except where mandatory consumer law gives you a right to a refund (see “Subscriptions and withdrawal” and “Your statutory rights” below).

We may give complimentary FP (for example, a welcome bonus). Complimentary FP have no cash value and may expire or be adjusted. We may change FP prices and the cost of features; changes are not retroactive to FP you have already bought.

Subscriptions and withdrawal

Some tiers (such as Diamond) are recurring subscriptions. They renew automatically at the end of each billing period, at the then-current price, until you cancel. You can cancel at any time from your account; cancellation takes effect at the end of the current period, and you keep access until then.

Payments are handled by Stripe. We do not see or store your full card details.

EU/EEA right of withdrawal: if you are a consumer in the EU/EEA, you normally have 14 days to withdraw from a purchase of digital content. By buying FP or a subscription and gaining immediate access, you ask us to begin performance straight away and acknowledge that you lose this 14-day right once the digital content has been supplied. This does not affect your other mandatory consumer rights.

Content and intellectual property

Fates — its software, design, card artwork and text — belongs to us or our licensors. We grant you a personal, non-transferable licence to use Fates and to keep and enjoy the readings generated for you, for your own personal, non-commercial use.

The questions you write remain yours. By submitting them, you allow us to process them to produce your readings and to operate the service, as described in our Privacy Policy.

Disclaimers

Fates is provided “as is” and “as available”. To the extent permitted by law, we make no warranties about the service, or about the accuracy, reliability or outcome of any reading, or its fitness for a particular purpose. Readings are for reflection and entertainment, and you rely on them at your own discretion.

Your statutory rights and limitation of liability

To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, or for decisions you make based on a reading.

Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law. In particular, nothing here affects your mandatory rights as a consumer, or our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or for fraud.

Suspension and ending your account

You can stop using Fates and delete your account at any time from your settings; deletion erases your data as described in the Privacy Policy.

We may suspend or close an account that breaks these Terms or abuses the service. If we close your account other than for a serious breach, we will deal fairly, and as the law requires, with any unused FP you have paid for.

Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms. If we make material changes, we will update this page and the date above and, where appropriate, let you know in the app. Continuing to use Fates after a change means you accept the updated Terms.

Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of Norway. If you are a consumer, you also keep the protection of any mandatory laws of your country of residence, and you may bring proceedings in the courts there.

If you are an EU consumer, the European Commission’s Online Dispute Resolution platform is available at ec.europa.eu/consumers/odr. We would always rather hear from you first — email kjetil@dhai.no and we will do our best to put things right.
